What is a Demurrage Invoice?
Demurrage invoices from railroads are for the charges they invoice to customers for time that a railcar is sitting at the customer location. This is used as an incentive to cycle the cars at the customer facility faster. These are often with certain amounts of free time or credits which offset the total invoice. Though railroads don't like to admit it, sometimes these invoices are wrong and often to your benefit to have fixed!
